CHARLOTTE, NC — As the nation continues to collectively grapple with the issue of school safety in the United States in the wake of last week’s shooting in Florida, parents and communities are looking at what works when it comes to keeping kids safe in the classroom.
Quality of life website Niche.com, which specializes in all different types of rankings, including schools, has created a new list tackling this issue, based on education data and other factors, ranking what it says are the top safest school districts in North Carolina.
The safest school district in North Carolina is Polk County Schools, according to Niche.
Niche’s methodology is based on an analysis of U.S. Department of Education data along with reviews from parents and students. Rankings are based on student and parent ratings of health and safety, area crime rates, and rates for expulsion, suspension, and school related arrests, Niche said.
Here are the top 20 safest school districts in North Carolina for 2018, according to Niche. (If you want to read reviews and why a specific school received the ranking that it did, please click on the hyperlink at the bottom.)
